The Last Fiction by Iranian animation agency, Hoorakhsh Studios is set to qualify for the Oscars Awards in the best animated feature category, a milestone development for the country’s budding animation industry.
The Last Fiction is based on Shahnameh, Iran’s epic that tells the story of Kaveh, a blacksmith who rebels against the devil, which appeared in a prince’s soul. The feature boasts a combination of hand-drawn illustrations, CGI, as well as VFX. The Last Fiction was directed by Ashkan Rahgozar who also founded Hoorakhsh studios.
The film, which was played in various film festivals last year, will have a theatrical run in Hollywood’s Arena Cinelounge on October 18–24. It’s also set to launch on several streaming platforms.
